Rain (1996) is a handsome piece of bookmaking, bound in deep turquoise wrappers and printed on handmade paper. It includes three Leslie Marmon Silko (b. 1948) essays—”From the Top of the Ridge I Can See off in the Distance;” “Landscape, History, and the Pueblo Imagination;” and “Rain”—each exploring themes of introspection, the Southwest, and human relationships to the natural world.
Silko’s father, photographer Lee Marmon (1925–2021), contributes a signed photograph, as well.
