American poet Charles Henri Ford (1908–2002) was among those involved with Gertrude Stein’s artist salon in Paris and wrote The Young and Evil (1933), a novel characterizing queer subculture in New York in the early 20th century. This third installment in his Om Krishna series employs Hindu gods in a metaphysical narrative poem.
Black and white line illustrations by Japanese-American artist Isamu Noguchi (1904–1988) support the text.
