Signed to fashion journalist and editor Grace Mirabella (1929–2021) who contributed an essay to the book. Also signed by Louise Kerz Hirschfeld below hers and Al’s caricature facing Louise’s essay. Laid in, a postcard dated November 1998 in Louise’s hand wishing Grace and her husband Bill a happy anniversary. Black and white photos and illustrations with two signatures printed in color on glossy stock. 343 pages. 9.5” x 12”.
Of all the Hirschfeld monographs, few enter into the artist’s mind as deliberately as Hirschfeld On Line (1999). Al contributes his own commentary, but so do many of his subjects. For anyone interested in 20th century art and entertainment, this book will be deeply gratifying.
