This is American novelist Earl Derr Biggers’ (1884–1933) third book in the Charlie Chan mystery series. Chan was inspired by real life Chinese-Hawaiian detective Chang Apana. Behind That Curtain (1928) was adapted for a film of the same name in 1929.
