American poet Edmund Skellings (1932–2012), Poet Laureate of Florida at the time of his death, was an avant garde practitioner of the craft. Experimenting with the incorporation of audio manipulation, animation, videography, and music, Skellings’ work transcended genre. Duels & Duets (1960) was his earliest published experiment in which vinyl recordings are included in the boards of the book. The book won the Chicago Midwest Award for design.
