The Fabulous Clipjoint (1947) is the first longform novel by Fredric Brown (1906–1972). The story follows the recently orphaned-by-murder Ed joining forces with his carney uncle, Ambrose, to solve the case, which was otherwise dismissed as random by the Chicago police.
