Robert La Fosse (1959– ) is an alum of both the American Ballet Theatre and the New York City Ballet. As a protégé of Mikhail Baryshnikov, La Fosse was expected to have an impressive career, but this 1987 autobiography describes the complicated and challenging path of a young dancer and how nothing is a “given” in such a demanding career.
