First published in Blue Book Magazine as a serial called Jungle Girl in 1931 and issued in book form in 1932. Ace Books retitled the book The Land of Hidden Men for its paperback editions. The plot follows an American explorer in the jungles of Cambodia.
Edgar Rice Burroughs (1875–1950) was a prolific writer of adventure books and most notably the creator of Tarzan. The illustrated cover is by Frank Frazetta (1928–2010) whose work graced the covers of many pulp paperbacks and comic books. His was a defining aesthetic for the science fiction, adventure, and fantasy genres.
