Alexander Fomitsch Weltmann (1800–1870) was a prolific Russian novelist and also the director of the Kremlin armory with interests in anthropology, folklore, and antiquities. In this 1861 work of nonfiction, he describes the czars’ holdings—everything from religious relics, flatware and cutlery, and armor to royal treasures like crowns and thrones.
